Marines:
At the 5 March 2005 Staff Meeting in Folsom, CA. I declared my intentions and placed my name on the floor for the position of Department Commandant. This notice is being issued to seek your support prior to the Department Convention in Sparks, Nevada. I’ll continue to do my very best for you and our Department. My time and efforts have been will continue to be focused on making the Department of California Marine Corps League one of the best in the country.
My work as Commandant and committee chairman in many events for the Marine Corps League has given me an excellent insight to the Marine Corps League and what we stand for. I am retired, have the financial capabilities and time to devote to the league. It is my desire continue as Commandant of the Department of California, and as part of my long term goals and services I will continue to contribute to the league with the talents given to me by our Supreme Commandant
As a member of the Marine Corps League San Diego Bulldog Detachment #835 I keep foremost in my approach the importance of the military brotherhood for all of our veterans. I continue to provide leadership in the recruitment of new members as detachment recruiter of the year for two consecutive years. In our fund raising efforts I have assisted in as many functions as possible, serving as coordinator and cook for our breakfasts and dinners. I have also applied my computer skills to become the senior editor of our Detachment newsletter and diligence to “Operation Home Front’ to help serve families of deployed Marine.
My service in The Military Order of Devil Dogs, for select members of the League, has afforded me the opportunity to operate in many positions, currently as Pound Keeper, which has not gone unrecognized. For all the work done on behalf of the Department and our Detachment I have been fortunate to have received many honors including the “Chapel of Four Chaplains Fellowship”. I also received the Detachment's Citizen of the Year award for 2001, 2002 and “Leaguer of the Year” 2003 for The California Department, and Pack Dog of the Year 2004-2005
Positions past and current: 3 year Adjutant /Paymaster, Jr. Vice Commandant, Sr. Vice Commandant and currently Commandant. San Diego Bulldog Pound #240: Jr. Vice Pound Keeper 2 yrs, Sr. Vice Pound Keeper 2 yrs, Pound Keeper and Pack Dog Robber. Ongoing activities include: Fundraising, Awards comm., Budget comm., Recruitment, retention and new Detachment development Within my Detachment I have served at several officer's positions and the first “Second Term Commandant”. I also am involved as Marine Corps League National Veterans Administration Voluntary Service Deputy Representative assisting Ted Corbett at regular meetings at V.A. Hospital in La Jolla. .
