Commandant's Message

As we near the end of my term as your commandant I would like to thank you all for making it an eventful one. We have continued to increase the membership and are working hard at retaining old members. Remember when we lose a member we all lose. I want everyone to remember when we open the convention for business this year we have a dues increase that was passed at the last convention. The new dues for the department will be $9.00.

We have had and I’m sure we will continue to have discussions about the khaki shirt issue. I would just like everyone to remember that when we have issues about things that we don’t agree with we act in a civil matter when we discuss them. None of us agrees on every thing but we should not get unruly and say things that could have long lasting repercussions and hurt feelings. After all we are all volunteers and trying to do the best job we can.

We need to remember to register our delegate voting power for National Conventions to let our selves be heard. We continue to fight an up hill battle with the powers from the east coast. Remember to help who ever is elected at our next convention by keeping this in mind.

I want to say a big Thank You to the staff that has served the Department for the last year. No one person can do it all. It most assuredly takes a team effort. A lot of work goes on that not every one is aware of but it takes a lot of time by a lot of people. To these people a big Thank You as well.

I would like to say Thank You for allowing me to be your Commandant for the last two years. It has been a great pleasure and at times quite humbling but over all most enjoyable. I stand ready to give all the help I can when asked by the next commandant. And I wish him well.

Plan on attending the Convention in June in Santa Ana it should be a lot of fun.
