Commandant's Message

Thank you for allowing me to be your Commandant. Rest assured I will do everything in my power to give you my very best. I welcome any and all questions and helpful hints.

I am a firm believer that we are a unit and we need to work together. I want us to work hard on retaining our present membership as well as recruit new members. After going over some paper work I noticed that as a dept. we have close to 1000 members behind in their dues. This is not acceptable. The only reason people don’t pay their dues is they forget or we don’t make them feel wanted. Don’t let them forget and make them feel needed. If you took the time to recruit them take the time to keep them.

I am a stickler on the by-laws and especially on the section pertaining to uniform regulations. When we were on active duty we had regulations to follow and it is not really any different now.

While I was at the National Convention I picked up a lot of Certificates for a bunch of Detachments for various Honors. It made me very proud to go up and receive these awards on your behalf. I will issue them at our meeting in Folsom in October. I would like to thank everyone for all your hard work and dedication for all you continue to do for our Warriors in harm’s way. When we meet in Folsom I would like to have all detachments that attend to bring a written report and be ready to tell us some of what your detachment has been doing. I feel it is important we know to help us all get acquainted with different programs and ideas.

Again let me say thank you to John Serpa for placing my name in nomination to become Commandant and to R.Meade Phillips for changing his plans to be in Reno,Nev. to swear me and all the Dept. Officers in. And again thank you all for allowing me this opportunity to serve you.
